There are numerous types of cyber attacks, and different ways to carry out one. As the world becomes more dependent on technology, the damage potential for cyber attacks increases. Government agencies around the world are even competing in cyber attacks with one another, for offensive and defensive reasons. Two popular attack methods are malware and denial-of-service attacks. Malware There are many forms of malware, such as viruses and botnets. Malware is any code or software written for the purposes of carrying out malicious actions. Malware has evolved rapidly and is becoming much more sophisticated over time. Anti-malware systems provide the best protection against malware. They typically provide real-time protection by scanning files before, during, or after the software is installed. Anti-malware systems aren t perfect, however.
